Natural Home Remedies For Bronchitis

Bronchitis is where you have inflammation in the airways which leads to the lungs. Bronchitis is an inflammation, swelling or infection of the bronchial tubes between the nose and the lungs. It is usually caused by a virus, bacteria, or particles that irritate the bronchial tubes. There are many effective home remedies for treating bronchitis and to relieve your symptoms.

Ginger

Ginger is a natural home remedy that you can think of to treat the common cold. It is also very effective in treating bronchitis. Ginger has anti inflammatory properties that will provide you great relief from irritated, swollen and inflamed lungs. Herbal ginger tea is a very good home remedy for bronchitis symptoms.

Onions

It is reported that eating them raw or cooked, baked, in soups and stews or as seasoning works as well to fight bronchitis symptoms because they are expectorants. To relieve cough, it is recommended that you slice an onion and cover with honey - allow to stand overnight and then take out the onion. Use 1 teaspoon of this honey 4 times a day.

Turmeric

This anti-inflammatory spice, the benefits of which seem to know no end, is another Ayurvedic remedy. Add one teaspoon to a full glass of milk, and take that concoction two to three times a day, with the first being early in the morning. It works best on an empty stomach.

Water With Added Oil

For loosening congestion, try doing some of the steam ideas or head steaming suggestions but add a few drops of eucalyptus, rosemary or peppermint oil to the water as this helps to open breathing passages.

Holy Basil

This herb is often used to treat lung inflammation in India. For treating bronchitis, it's best to get an actual leaf of the plant if you can, and chew on it raw. You can also find holy basil teas at most natural food stores, although those may be less effective.
