Natural and Effective Tips for Hair Growth

We’ve put together 10 of our favourite natural hair regrowth tips that have stood the exam of time and that should help for your way to grow longer luscious locks:

1. Protein
Are you aware our hair is around 90% protein? It's made from a protein called keratin. These essential proteins get stripped away by extreme heat, weather, pollution, and chemical damage. Therefore, it is crucial that these lost nutrients get replaced. Protein can give the shaft of your hair more strength, will prevent damage and also accelerate growth.
Foods rich in protein include eggs, fish, beans, yoghurt & poultry. You might give low carb protein shakes a go - they’re not reserved for bodybuilders!

2. Henna
Henna is normally used like a natural hair colour but it's also used as natural hair conditioner, aiding hair regrowth. Try mixing it with egg, yoghurt and fresh lemon juice so that it forms a paste. You’ll then have to work it into your hair and then leave for an hour before washing. Quote though, henna may give your hair red colour undertones!

3. E vitamin
Vitamin E is known to improve blood flow, therefore making the scalp healthier and accelerating growth. Vitamin E rich foods include spinach, vegetable oil, lentils, tomatoes, fortified cereals and whole grain products.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Applying this towards the scalp gets rid of any the dead skin cells and bacteria in your follicles of hair that may be blocking healthy hair growth. Mix half just one cup with a quarter cup water and use as a final rinse after shampooing. It doesn’t smell the very best but it does wonders for the hair!

5. Flaxseed Oil
Flaxseed oil contains efa's which are not produced naturally through the human body. These are essential for a proper scalp. It nourishes your hair follicle both internally and externally leaving it having a lovely sheen. Low levels of the omega 3 acid can cause dry and brittle hair so it’s best to keep your levels topped up.

6. Essential olive oil
Olive oil helps to reduce the production of DTH hormones, recognized to cause hair loss. The oxidants in essential olive oil also help promote a healthier scalp. Mix essential olive oil with coconut, sesame or using castor oil and massage into your scalp. Leave hair wrapped in a towel or shower cap to have an hour before rinsing.

7. Natural aloe-vera
Aloe vera contains aloenin which stimulates hair regrowth. It also helps to balance PH levels, thereby preventing hair thinning. Leave aloe vera gel in your scalp for 20-30 mins, passing on enough time to penetrate your skin before washing off.

8. Egg Yolk
Eggs behave as a conditioner and are ideal for those with dry and brittle hair. It's not only a cheap way to strengthen and moisturise your hair, the yolks are high in sulphur therefore it helps to reduce dandruff. Mix 2/3 yolks with using castor oil and work it into your remaining hair head. Leave for 30 mins and rinse.
